With the latest update of the Zune software released this week, the Zune is officially compatible with Windows Vista. Vista was released to Microsoft’s business customers on November 30th but will not be available for non-business customers until January 30th. Although a Zune patch was released by Microsoft MVP Paul O’Brien in late November to make it compatible with Vista, this latest update of the Zune software is the official ‘patch’ by Microsoft. To get the latest version of the Zune software, you can download it from the Zune website. Or, if you already have the Zune software installed, your software should update the next time you sync up your Zune.
The update to Zune firmware version 1.2 indicates that this required update will help enhance stability and performance of your Zune. Also, if the update is upgrading your Zune from firmware version 1.0 to 1.2, the update will also include the enabling of the Zune-to-Zune wireless sharing. Important note, the wireless functionality is ON by default!
