YouTube Hits A Billion Hours of Videos Every Day Milestone, New Manufacturer Center Self-sign Up Opens

In Google Hangouts on desktop and Android, you can now jump right back into the conversation with redesigned unread messages indicators in Hangouts.

Starting today, when you enter a conversation that has a lot of activity, a “Jump to Last Read” button is now dispalyed, that take you to the last unread message in the chat denoted by # new messages indicator.

Additionally, the “# new messages” button is redesigned and matches to the new UI. See the screenshot below:

Google has hit a big milestone with people around the world are now watching “a billion hours of videos on YouTube every single day!”

Around the world, “people are spending a billion hours every day rewarding their curiosity, discovering great music, keeping up with the news, connecting with their favorite personalities, or catching up with the latest trend,” says YouTube team.

“Let’s put that in perspective. If you were to sit and watch a billion hours of YouTube, it would take you over 100,000 years. 100,000 years ago, our ancestors were crafting stone tools and migrating out of Africa while mammoths and mastodons roamed the Earth. If you spent 100,000 years traveling at the speed of light, you could travel from one end of the Milky Way to the other (and you wouldn’t age a day!). And if you searched for 100,000 years on YouTube, you’d find a really killer KISS track,” the team stated.

Google Manufacturer Center, that enable brands to provide enhanced product images, descriptions and variants for a more consistent brand experience across Google—is today, opened to more merchants with the new “self-sign up for Manufacturer Center.”

With the new self-sign up, brands can set up their accounts in a matter of minutes and start submitting authoritative, detailed, and rich product information (including images, titles, descriptions, videos, and more) to help their products stand out in a crowded marketplace — whether shoppers are looking for inspiration, to compare products, or to make a purchase, writes Google.
