Your Phone Adds SMS Support In Redstone 5 Build 17755 For Windows Insiders

Microsoft delivered yet another Build to Windows Insiders of Fast Ring release that allows to send and receive SMS messages through the “Your Phone app.

The new tests build 17755, which is part of Windows 10 October 2018 Update “Redstone 5” (RS5) is very limited about new features as it’s mostly focused on fixes.

The major update in this release is the Your Phone app that now allows users to sync their text messages from Android phones with the Windows 10 PCs.

Your Phone Android app since August already allowed to see 25 most recent photos from Android phones on PCs, has now added SMS support, too. With this update, Microsoft delivered on their promise to bring a window into the phone complete with photos, messages, calls and more.

It’s just easier. “Text your friends, group message, and type with a keyboard— Your Phone app allows you to view, send, and receive the SMS from your Android smart phone on your Windows 10 computer,” wrote Dona Sarkar.

Here is a screenshot of Your Phone app connected with a PC:

There are a few ways you can text from your PC, like the ability to type with a keyboard, or ink a message, or use a digital pen on pen-capable devices.

It’s also possible to use voice to dictate a message in US English. Simply, press the Windows logo key + H to start dictation. Or, on a touch keyboard, select the microphone button.

Interested, You Phone app is live for Insiders running either Windows 10 Redstone 5 (RS5) or a Skip Ahead 19H1 builds.

Once the latest build of Windows 10 is installed, first link the Android phone to a computer through Your Phone app. Then download and install the app from Microsoft on the mobile phone and follow the setup prompts.

On the iPhone, the Your Phone app lets surf the web on the phone, allows to send the webpage instantly to a computer so you can pick up where you left off, watch, or browse with all the benefits of a bigger screen.

Microsoft will begin rolling out the Windows 10 October 2018 Update to mainstream users sometime in the month of October— maybe on October 2?!.

The company has just sent out invites to its October 2 Event in New York City, where it’s expected to feature more than just a couple refreshed Surface devices. Windows, Office, Cortana, and other software and services will likely get cameos, too.
