The Yahoo! Maps powered by Nokia is now available now in the U.S. and Canada, an will be rolled out globally throughout 2012, announced Yahoo!.
“As part of the alliance we announced last year, Yahoo! Maps is now powered by Nokia. Nokia will provide the latest maps with up-to-date location data/address, routing information, road networks, and points of interest,” Yahoo said in a blog post announcing the launch.

Yahoo! controls the user experience, business listings content, and filtering, including the following:
- “Simplified layout and visual design with a maximized viewable area
- Improved interaction design featuring new flows that improve the overall efficiency of core tasks (finding a location, looking up a business, and getting directions)
- Enhanced business listings support, leveraging the improvements made to the Yahoo! local listings database
- Consistent interface across the Yahoo! network with the universal location widget, allowing users to search and select locations,” Yahoo said.
