Windows4all: A web-based OS in Silverlight’s security sandbox

Windows4all website is set up to offer a simulation of the Windows platform inside users’ web browser. Despite the branding and the design similarities of the graphical user interface, Windows4all has nothing to do with Microsoft. The Web-based OS is an independent project hosted on CodePlex and offered under GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2) open source license. Because its open source, users interested in the project can grab the source code of Windows4all. “Windows4all.com is web-based and requires Silverlight 3 to operate. Application runs in Silverlight’s security sandbox. By default code is restricted from accessing user’s file system or doing anything that could hurt user’s machine.”
