Windows Turns 26 Years Old, Skype Greets with Video Greeting Card

On November 20, Microsoft Windows turned 26. To celebrate the, the Skype team has publised a short “Happy 26th Birthday Windows from the Skype Team” video.

“Say it with Skype is a fun way to send group video greeting cards. Head over to Facebook to send your message and give someone an extra special happy birthday greeting http://www.facebook.com/Skype”.

Microsoft tweeted today about Windows’ 26th birthday and mentioned a special group video greeting card from the Skype team:

“Yesterday was the 26th anniversary of Windows being released and we received this special video card from @Skype!”

Back in November 20th of 1985, Microsoft introduced an operating system named Windows as an add-on to MS-DOS in response to the growing interest in graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

Microsoft Windows came to dominate the world’s personal computer market, overtaking Mac OS, which had been introduced in 1984. As of August 2011, Windows has approximately 82.58% of the market share of the client operating systems according to Usage share of operating systems.

The most recent client version of Windows is Windows 7; the most recent server version is Windows Server 2008 R2; the most recent mobile version is Windows Phone 7.
