Microsoft and Best Buy team up to create the Windows Store only at Best Buy, a comprehensive store-within-a-store in 500 Best Buy locations across the United States and more than 100 Best Buy and Future Shop locations in Canada.
The stores will range in size from 1,500 square feet to 2,200 square feet, and will be the premier destination for consumers products.
These Windows Stores within Best Buy will allow consumers to browse, try, compare, and purchase a wide variety of Microsoft’s products including Windows-based PCs and tablets, Windows Phones, Office, Xbox, and much more.
“The other unique thing about the Windows Store is the people. There will be an additional 1,200 staff on hand to provide a great customer experience, whether it’s choosing the right PC or showing consumers how to stream Xbox music through their Surface,” says Chris Capossela, the Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft.
These new Windows Store locations within Best Buy (FutureShop in Canada) will roll out from late June through September, according to Microsoft.
Update 06/15: On Thursday, Microsoft also opened the doors to its newest retail store at Ala Moana Center in Honolulu with the help of Seattle-based megastars Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and alternative group Neon Trees.
“More than 4,000 customers came out for the grand opening, some of whom camped out starting at 10 p.m. on Wednesday evening for their chance to be the first ones in the door,” Microsoft wrote.
Microsoft in a new marketing campaign that compare Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets against those of Apple’s iPad–released a second TV advertisement video today, that puts the Dell XPS 10 running Windows RT next to an iPad.
The video shows Siri giving it up to the Dell XPS 10 for its zoomable Start screen UI, lack of a microSD card slot for storage expansion in iPad.
There’s also a Snap view feature to let two Windows apps run at the same time, which again Siri states the iPad cannot accomplish.
