Windows Phone 7-certified microSD Cards: $32 for 8GB Hits AT&T Stores

Engadget is reporting that certified microSD cards have finally made their debut at an AT&T store, presumably with more to follow later.

Earlier, AT&T had warned off customers from using “non-certified” cards out of fear of an impact on performance. In a Microsoft support document, the company wrote that ”Several other factors, such as the number of random read/write operations per second, play a role in determining how well an SD card performs with Windows Phone 7 devices.”

Customers inserting memory cards into their Samsung Focus soon discovered that the OS treats the internal storage and SD card storage as one and the same, making it impractical for removing and inserting into other devices. While no word has been given as to whether this situation is going to be rectified, a boost in overall memory storage is still a welcome addition.

The 8GB Class 4 cards are made by SanDisk — indicates a sticker on the packaging.
