Windows Mobile 7 ‘high expectation’ set for Mobile World Congress

After the “no-show” of Windows Mobile 7 at CES 2010, Microsoft officials begun touting the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in mid-Feb in Barcelona as the place that Windows Mobile 7 will finally be on public display. Robbie Bach in his Jan 7 Financial Analyst Briefing said to expect in WM7 “things’ll be talked about at MWC.” “Bach reiterated some of what the Redmondians have been saying for months, specifically that WM7 won’t be just a business-focused mobile OS platform any more. “I’ve seen it and played with it.” He believed Windows Mobile 7 will “set the bar forward not in (just) an evolutionary way.” Bach said to expect Microsoft to step up its “go to market approach” so that it’ll be “more engaged” with its mobile OEMs. He didn’t get more specific,” writes M.J. Foley. Long Zheng also posted about an invitation from Microsoft for MWC, teased: “Microsoft will be making several exciting announcements during the show. You’ll learn: How the company plans to align its consumer vision and grow opportunities for the mobile industry as a whole; How it will tackle challenging times ahead, in the face of economic uncertainty and stiffening competition.”
