Windows Live Sync is a great application for people that use multiple PCs – and making SkyDrive a great service for sharing documents and photos on the web. Sync beta requires Windows Vista or Windows 7 for PCs running Windows, and requires Leopard or higher for Mac. Here’re few highlights:
- Access to your PC from anywhere using remote desktop -easy to set up, faster & more responsive with added data centers and optimized protocols. Also improved support multiple monitors, and added zoom.
- Using few clicks you can sync Windows folders across all your PCs. Sync beta intelligently chooses right connection (internet or local network) to sync files. Also increased key sync limits, with support for more sync folders, many more files in each folder, and ability to synchronize files as large as 40GB now.
- Cloud synchronization is more reliable now, with enough cloud storage to sync important folder (2GB of cloud storage). You can always give other people permission to access any of your Sync folders.
- Office Web Apps in SkyDrive let you co-author files in cloud, OWA avoid most cases where edits collide, simplifying experience for everyone. Also brought social “news feed” from Mesh into SkyDrive. And all of this is web-based, so it’s easy for anyone to participate. Also OneNote 2010 sync to your SkyDrive right out of the box.
Note: If you’re using Live Mesh or Sync already, you’ll have to uninstall previous version before you start using new Sync beta.
