Microsoft’s always looking to protect its investments from piracy. It has been rumored that Microsoft will be integrating cloud based services into Window 8. Now, Rumorpedia reports that
“Windows 8 will synchronize a couple of kernel files directly from Microsoft cloud servers, not only preventing privacy (at least temporary) but also allowing instant system updates for some of the components (no reboot required).
Now, if your connection dies, it’ll use a backup kernel file that’s stored in your actual computer so essentially, Internet isn’t required.
However, when you run Windows 8 for the very first time, it’ll try to establish a connection to Microsoft servers and download the most recent files.”
If Microsoft does implement this feature, depending on how regularly they update the kernel files on the servers, it could pose a serious blockade for would be pirates.
