Windows 7 generates ‘Non-genuine warnings’ when Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Packs installed on incorrect editions

“You may receive non-genuine warnings in Windows 7 while you are trying to install updates or files from the Microsoft Download Center. Validation may also not be successful when you try to validate Windows from the Genuine Microsoft Software site. You may receive following message: “This copy of Windows isn’t Genuine.” Additionally, non-genuine warnings that you receive in Windows may contain one of these validation error codes: 1699978131, 1571607440, 757834664, 228668481,” Microsoft said in KB2105247. This’ll happen even if customers acquired a genuine copy of Win7. Essentially, Win7 editions other than Enterprise and Ultimate that’ve MUI packs installed will be identified as pirated by Microsoft. “This issue can occur when following conditions are true: Multilingual User Interface (MUI) packs are installed that provide additional display languages in OS. Win7 edition that’s installed on computer is Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, or Professional edition,” Microsoft said.

“To determine Win7 edition currently installed on computer, follow steps. If current OS is an edition other than Ultimate or Enterprise, you must “Reinstalling Windows 7” or remove MUIs.”
