Today, March 21st, is Twitter’s 7th birthday, the day @jack first tweeted. The steep trajectory of Twitter’s momentum is something @jack, @ev and @biz only dreamed about back in 2006, Twitter writes.
The company in a blog post notes, that since then, it is seen breathtaking velocity in Twitter’s growth, stating;
“thanks to all of you that our open, real-time platform is thriving: we have well over 200 million active users creating over 400 million Tweets each day.”
“Here’s to your creativity, curiosity and experimentation on our platform. We’re gratified that so many millions of you have made Twitter yours. Thank you.”
“As we’ve grown, Twitter has become a true global town square — a public place to hear the latest news, exchange ideas and connect with people all in real time. This is where you come to connect with the world at large. Get on your soapbox to critique elected officials, or go sotto voce to the neighbor next to you. And as in other gathering places, commerce happens too (and jokes and art-making and debating, and — you get the idea),” the company wrties.
Twitter has also created a video celebrating some of the many moments on Twitter so far on its 7th b’day.
Update 04/02: To help the business start ups to get connect with the right audience–Twitter today launched a re-designed go-to resource for businesses at business.twitter.com.
“If your business is new to Twitter, we’ve got a 101 section to help put your best Tweets forward. For the more savvy Twitter user, we have more advanced marketing tips that you’ll find useful too,” Twitter wrote.
