Last week, at the ALM Summit, Tasktop announced: that “that they’re adding support for TFS to their Mylyn Eclipse plugin. And, second that they’re building a Mylyn plugin for Visual Studio.”
For those who aren’t familiar with “Mylyn,” “it’s a work management tool for developers, and allows to track their tasks, associate context with tasks and switch or share tasks and their corresponding context. For e.g., if you’re working on a bug, you’ll debug it and explore your code to understand the problem. In the process, you’ll get a number of open code files, scrolled to interesting places, etc. This and other stuff is context. If you send the task to your buddy to look at they can restore all of your context in their IDE and pick up where you left off.
Another aspect of Mylyn is that it has connectors to a lot of other work management systems. They provide a Task List window that enables users to see their work in all of the various systems that their team uses. With the new Mylyn support, you’ll be able to get TFS support to.”
