Sonic Speeding to February 20 for Wii Fans

Good news Sonic fans as Sonic and the Secret Rings is due a week early. Now tell me that doesn’t please your ears. Introduced at the E3 convention of 2006 as Sonic Wild Fire, the game takes full advantage of the Wii Remote mechanism: by holding the Wii Remote sideways with  both hands, similarly to the NES controller,
and then tilting it left or right to move Sonic in that direction.

For those who are not very familiar with the game (although I doubt it), here are a few facts about the hedgehog’s new tasks that lay ahead.

The story begins with Sonic turning the pages of the classic book, 1001 Nights. Suddenly, he is visited by the tale’s central character, Shahra the Genie, who reveals that an evil entity known as “Erazor Djinn” is absorbing the power of the One Thousand and One Nights book and causing pages of it to disappear. According to an ancient legend, the only one who can defeat him is a “blue hedgehog.”

The game will feature eight levels, although only five of them are known to the public at the moment, and each stage will be featuring two acts plus a boss stage that puts Sonic in a circular arena, much like was the case in Sonic Rivals and Sonic Rush.

Players will hurtle Sonic forward by rotating the controller from side to side and perform combo moves with a flick of the wrist, all this combined with a dizzying sense of speed for a fast, frenetic gameplay with Sonic in constant motion. So, those who have Wiis, don’t be jealous at Xbox or PS owners, you’ll have the last laugh.
