Microsoft’s “Smoked by Windows Phone” campaign has started to pick up steam, as the company has released a new series of video ads to the web to show more on what its Windows Phone can do when compared to other platforms out there.
The campaign started at CES with Microsoft’s Ben Rudolph challenging people to compete with his Windows Phone — offering $100 to all those who managed to beat its Windows Phone device in speed when it came to taking a photo and uploading it to a social networking website, for example.
The campaign went viral and global, and Microsoft expaned the campaign to other part of the world.
You can watch the two videos embedded below. “We bet people $100 that Windows Phone is simply faster at the everyday stuff they do on their smartphones,” Microsoft notes.

In other Windows Phone news, App Hub is now open for submissions in the 23 new Marketplaces such “Bahrain, Bulgaria, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Estonia, Iceland, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Vietnam.”
“Once this latest batch goes live, it will bring total number of customer storefronts to 63–nearly half of which are new in 2012,” Microsoft said.
Factor in the new wave of handsets (including more affordable models) coming from Nokia, HTC, and ZTE, and it means a nearly 60 percent increase in the total addressable market for your apps.
Submitting your apps to multiple Marketplaces is fairly straightforward. Just visit App Hub and select the individual markets–or choose “worldwide” (even if you’ve done this before) to make them available everywhere. Here are the step-by-step instructions.
Keep in mind that some new markets– Bahrain, China, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE–are subject to additional certification requirements due to local laws or norms. Check Section 3.10 content policy for more details.
