Skype for Business Online Directly Integrates within Salesforce

Skype 6.25 for iPhone and iPad taking the use of the best new features of iOS 10 and integrating them into the Skype experience, including SiriKit.

With iOS 10 and SiriKit, calling someone on Skype is as simple as using the same voice commands you’re already using. For example, “say you want to call someone named Lucy Archer on Skype. If you have her Skype contact information saved in your iOS device, simply say “Call Lucy Archer.” Siri may ask for you to confirm it has the right contact – one click later, your Skype call is initiated,” team skype explained.

This SiriKit functionality will be extended to Skype for Business iOS apps in October, giving business users the same easy access using Siri commands.

Earlier this year, an updated “Skype Web SDK”, which enables building web experiences that seamlessly integrate presence, chat, audio and video by leveraging Skype for Business services and the larger Skype communications network was launched.

And, today, new “Skype for Salesforce” is released, that surfaces with capabilities of Skype for Business Online give sellers “ability to communicate in real-time with colleagues straight from the Salesforce Lightning Experience,” writes office team.

Although users can utilize chatting features on any supported browser for Lightning Experience, but “video and audio calls are currently only supported on Microsoft Edge and Apple’s Safari browser,” added microsoft.

Microsoft has stated that support for more browsers is coming soon, along with the introduction of more communication features.

Salesforce is a great showcase of how the new Skype Web SDK can be used to deliver a customized and integrated communication experience directly from browser and without any plug-ins, microsoft stated. “With real-time communications embedded directly in Salesforce, you can significantly reduce the turnaround time on sales tasks and customer queries,” added microsoft.

Users can simply hover mouse over a name in the activity timeline, or a record or a list to see whether a coworker is online. You can then start a chat, voice call or video call with a single click without switching to different application.

“The ability to see a person’s status, within the context of a CRM activity, allows you to choose the most effective form of communication,” office team writes.

Skype for Salesforce is available as a public beta today to all customers with Skype for Business Online and Salesforce Enterprise or Unlimited Edition.
