Setup Windows Media Center for non-geeks

Kevin Purdy posted about how to “geek out” with Windows Media Center but in such a way that non-geeks can take advantage and use. In the post, Kevin talks about Netflix, easy sharing of media using Windows 7’s HomeGroup feature, Internet TV, and installing a TV tuner turning your PC into a DVR. “My first attempt, an Apple TV patched to run Boxee, had advantages of a super-simple Apple remote, sleek-looking hardware, and an always-on setup, but I soon came to see poor, neglected Apple TV was underpowered for anything more than low-definition streaming, and was far from easy to move files into. So I set my sights on WMC, software built into most versions of Windows Vista and 7, as my new starting point, and is free, assuming you’ve got a copy of Windows, and offers a lot of features for both the geeky media nerd and casual viewer,” said Kevin.
