The Seattle Sounders FC has partnered with local digital agency POP to create a match day-oriented app for iPhones. The free app, which’s available at the iTunes App Store, gives fans team alerts, scores, as well as live Twitter and Facebook feeds. The app also includes a feature called “The Pulse,” which lets fans weigh in on their opinions about the club.
The Sounders have Major League Soccer’s most active online fan base. SoundersFC.com has 7,500 registered users, and the club has more than 166,000 Facebook friends and 13,000 Twitter followers.
The Sounders also have invested in technology from ScribbleLive to allow fans to follow Matt Gaschk’s live blogging of the game. And with the app, fans also can listen to live broadcast of Sounders matches from team broadcaster Arlo White.
About 70 percent the mobile visitors that come to the Sounders use devices running on the iOS platform.
