Samsung WAKE UP Campaign outside Apple Store on George Street, Sydney

Samsung hired an Australian marketing agency Tongue, to lead an advertising campaign for its upcoming Galaxy S III smartphone launch, the Korean company staged a ‘protest’ outside the Apple Store on George Street in Sydney.

A mysterious black bus, emblazoned with the phrase “WAKE UP” was parked outside the Apple store, coupled with dozens of protester waving placards bearing the message in the air, chanting the mantra “WAKE UP” roamed through the streets of Sydney on April 22.

According to Australian website mUmBRELLA, the staged fuss also boasted a series of billboards posted around the area, as well as “WAKE UP” written on the bottom of Bondi Ice Bergs’ pool, and an equally-mystifying website at wake-up-australia.com.au.

More recently, Samsung launched a teaser video, taking a jab at iPhone users, referring to those who don’t buy Samsung phones as “everyone else” and showing a flock of sheep:

A website, called Wake Up Australia, allegedly featuring a count down to the launch of the ‘Next Galaxy’ Galaxy S III.

The highly anticipated Android-powered smartphone is the primary rival to Apple’s iPhone, and it is unveiling May 3 in London.

Samsung has confirmed that its new Exynos 4 Quad processor will feature in its latest Galaxy Android handset.

The ARM-based chip has four processor cores and runs at a clock speed of 1.4 GHz. Samsung says that the new chip has double the processing power of its predecessor, the Exynos 4 Dual, while also using 20 percent less power. The new chip was built with a 32nm manufacturing process versus the 45nm process of the Exynos 4 Dual.

“In addition, the new processor incorporates a full HD 30 frame per second video hardware codec engine for high resolution 1080p video recording and play-back, an embedded image signal processor interface for high-quality camera functionality and an HDMI 1.4 interface for sharp and crisp multimedia content transmission,” Samsung said.
