Rebooting Google Chrome Sync “When Having Problems”

Google Chrome’s sync features is incredibly handy in many ways, but, every now and then, however, you may also run into a problem. Here’s the solution:

  • Sign out Chrome Sync and sign back in. To do this, click the wrench icon, then click options. Once a window appears, click Personal Stuff tab, press Stop syncing this account. Confirm by pressing Stop syncing. Note: Make sure to close your browser on your secondary machine(s) before you begin.
  • Change your Google account password. Also recommended to kill third-party app access to your Twitter account, a quick change of your Google password will break sync and give you a chance to start fresh. This link take you to password change page, or you can visit Google Dashboard. This’ll prevent all your systems from re-syncing, regardless of whether or not you closed the browser first.
