Pinterest has announced some more new ways to help people shop on its platform through the new Product Pins and Shopping Recommendations.
Shop the Look, help users to search where to buy items within a Pin. Or, use Lens camera to visually search for items.
New Product Pins
The company is now making available “hundreds of millions” of pins more shoppable. The pins will also now feature links that will take shoppers directly to the retailers’ checkout page.
The new product pins will also include the latest pricing and show if the item is in stock or not.
A new shopping tag icon on the product will show if the product is in stock, which can be tapped to learn more about the product or make the immediate purchase.
The new Products Pins are more discoverable now and can be accessed in the home feed and search results.

Pinterest says now that product pins are featured everywhere on its platform, they will be replacing the older ‘buyable pins’ format.
“Now on women’s fashion and home decor Pins, you can browse more in-stock items inspired by the original Pin in the new shopping recommendations section. Clicking for more in the section will lead you to a shoppable feed full of similar styles, all in stock,” Pinterest wrote.
Another new feature launched today is a new shopping shortcut that allows shopping right from the home feed.
The new shopping recommendations section located under Style and Home Pins will let discover more similar items across multiple brands.
A user holding down on any Home or Style pin and tapping the shopping tag will see more related product pins that are currently in-stock from the shopping feed.

The company says it has tested these new shopping features since the past quarter, which led to a 40 percent increase in clicks on products.
New Product Pins are now rolling out across mobile apps and on Pinterest.com worldwide.
The shopping recommendations section is live now in the U.S. on the iOS. This will follow soon on the Android app.
The global rollout of shopping recommendations will happen in the future.
