Pinterest Introduces Following Tab

A place which is entirely focused on the people and boards that you follow on the Pinterest is now available on the social networking platform through a new “following tab” that launched on Thursday.

The new following tab, makes it easier for people to see all the latest Pins in the order those were saved from the pinners they follow on Pinterest’s platform. “Now you have the choice to get inspired through personalized recommendations in your home feed, or switch over to a tab dedicated to the latest Pins from people you follow,” wrote Pinterest.

Additionally, Pinterest also let people control their follow list by tapping on the “+” button at the top of the following tab. Also, from there unfollow anything irrelevent or find more people to follow based on your interests.

The following tab rolls out today, on pinterest.com, and in apps for iOS version 6.46 and Android version 6.56.

It will become available to everyone over the next few weeks.

In other news, Pinterest recently expanded its ‘Shopping Ads’ to more businesses, which automatically pull from an existing product feed.

Shopping Ads are especially useful for brands those who want to scale advertising on Pinterest platform.

From a couple dozen retailers to now hundreds of businesses—Shopping Ads helping businesses seamlessly turn their product catalog into visual, actionable ads. According to a study, “90% of Pinners make purchase decisions on the platform, while 70% use it to find new products,” the company wrote.

New Visual Formats

Also, the company is testing new visual ad designs for Pinners to given them even more visual shopping cues. For example, in the image below you can see a new design that will help Pinners see a product from multiple angles.

In another test ad unit, “a mix of product shots and lifestyle imagery get pulled so people see how products could fit into their lives,’ explains Pinterest.

Lastly, ‘Shop the Look’ is now extended to include additional markets, like France, Germany, Japan and the UK.

Shop the Look “adds product tags within fashion and home decor Pins, so people can shop directly by using the image.” When something catches pinners eye, they can easily transition from browsing to buying.
