Picasa Web Now Works Over HTTPs Encryption

Google enable a encrypted connection for Picasa Web Albums, that lets you access Picasa using HTTPS protocol. This’s especially helpful if you use an unsecured WiFi connection.

Google says that PWA includes some resources sent via HTTP, but these aren’t the usual suspects: images, CSS and JavaScript files. The culprit is an iframe used for loading ads. Internet Explorer shows a mixed content warning every time you visit a PWA page, which’s really annoying.

Picasa Web Albums Adds HTTPS

Here’s an incomplete list of Google services that support HTTPS connections: Gmail (enabled by default), Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sites, Google Reader, Google Groups, Picasa Web Albums, Google Search, Google Finance, YouTube (partially encrypted), Google Health, Google Analytics, Google AdSense and AdWords, Google Web History, Google Bookmarks, Google Voice, Google Latitude, FeedBurner, Google Checkout. It’s probably easier to list the services that don’t support HTTPS.
