Today, everyone from FT.com to Xbox, Facebook, News International and beyond are using PayPal to test and refine their digital business model. But without a doubt, the gaming industry continues to blaze new trails when it comes to digital content monetization. So who’s playing and paying in the world of online gaming?
PayPal, today shared data in a infographics format commissioned from private research firm Ipsos on the topic – among the following notable points:
- 40% of adults play online games
- 22 hours per week are played by MMO gamers, compared to 16 hours per week for social gamers and 8 hours per week for casual gamers
- 56% of social gamers play daily, compared to 40% of MMO gamers and 34% of casual gamers
