Benazir Bhutto followed her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto into politics, and both of them died because of it – he was executed in 1979, she fell victim to an apparent suicide bomb attack. Her two brothers also suffered violent deaths.

Much like the Nehru-Gandhi family in India, the Bhuttos of Pakistan are one of the world’s most famous political dynasties. Benazir’s father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was prime minister of Pakistan in the early 1970s.[BBC News]

Benazir laid to rest: Her coffin wrapped in the flag of the Pakistan People’s Party, former Pakistan president Benazir Bhutto was laid to rest on Friday at Gharri Khuda Baksh, the Bhutto family mausoleum in Sindh. She was buried next to the grave of her father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the man she always saw as her political inspiration.

No leaders were invited for the last rites. Nawaz Sharif was politely advised to put off his plans to attend the burial as it was a strictly family ceremony.

That family included lakhs of her party supporters who descended on the mausoleum, helping with local arrangements, providing security, determined that her last farewell would be one befitting Pakistan’s most illustrious political dynasty.[IBN Live]
