Orgoo to bridge webmail and social networking sites

Social networks are the most happening these days, either to enhabce your web profile or to promote your blog / website, and if you’re a member of no of social media sites, you may be getting tired of receiving email notifications letting you know that someone wants to be your friend, joined your club, poke, or wink at you? While social networks have their own messaging systems, but these systems are much less powerful than email, then email service like Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo!

Orgoo, a startup that has built an email-centric web interface for communications want to bridge the gap between email and social networking by pulling them together into a unified experience. That means you’d be able to receive email notifications without leaving the social networking site.

TechCrunch reports that Orgoo hopes to convince social networks like MySpace and Facebook to integrate the Orgoo webmail product marketed specifically to social networks, which’ll encourage users to spend longer time on their sites. The result: Gmail and Facebook in one, or Hotmail and Friendster, if you’d prefer.

Orgoo supports POP and IMAP, which means you could send and receive email messages from any POP or IMAP-enabled account and wouldn’t necessarily be stuck with an @orgoo.com or @myspace.com email address. When you receive an email from a friend in your network, you could see their current status message or recently added pictures. If the sender isn’t your friend but is part of the social network, you could be presented with an option to add them as a friend or view commonly shared friends.
