Opera 10.5: Windows 7 integration, per-tab private browsing

o_105_2Opera dev team revealed that a special pre-alpha build of Opera 10.5 codenamed Evenes, will be unveiled on 22nd Dec. However, an internal old build has already been leaked. Opera termed the release as “Speed,” and the benchmarking of leaked build proves that general browsing with 10.5 is reasonably fast. Here’re some features:

  1. Updated skin: Similar to Google Chrome, the tab bar has been merged with the titlebar, thus giving more space to work.
  2. Takes advantage of Windows 7 features like jumplists and taskbar thumbnails.
  3. Private browsing in Opera don’t ask you to open a separate window to enter private browsing mode. Opera supports per-tab private browsing.
  4. There’re UI enhancements, interfering dialogue boxes have been done away e.g. wand and find dialogue boxes now integrated into the UI. Similar to Safari’s search, Find now dims the rest of the page while highlighting your query.
  5. 10.5 ships with new rendering engine (Presto 2.5.18). However, the Carakan (Opera’s new JavaScript rendering engine) is still missing.
