Microsoft announced a number of new features that are coming to its Office Lens app on iOS and Android this month. The app allows users to use their smartphone camera to scan documents.
Among the new features is a popular Microsoft apps feature Immersive reader coming to Office Lens on Android, while it’s already available across Windows, web, and iOS.
The immersive reader will be now for English will let users scan and make a digital copy of their content that is more easily accessible.
This add features like increase or decrease font size, wide text spacing, rewind and forward in content, and control the speaking rate of the text when it’s being read aloud.
Read aloud ability that reads the text while highlighting each word improves “text decoding, fluency, and comprehension” while sustaining focus and attention,” says Microsoft.
The other two features offer more control over the document being scanned, include:
Tap to Select is particularly helpful in selecting a single object from the multiple ones to scan. It finds the document boundary around the tapped area to lock it in.
Snap to Edge allows to move the crop handles and it will snap to the document edge.
Text annotations for iOS bring an ability to annotate photos with different text styles and colors after being captured they’ve been taken with Office Lens.
All of these new features will be arriving this month, while some feature is already available.
