A new version of the Office 365 App Launcher expands the set of online productivity tools available to users. It includes improved discoverability to new and recently used apps, along with additional customization options and search across all the services and applications used in the Microsoft Cloud.
With one in seven people on the planet using Office, “care was taken to make the new experience feel familiar while also improving access to mission-critical applications,” writes office team.
Here is what’s new today:
New tabbed layout allow to pin and organize tiles in a “HOME” section providing quick access to favorite apps from Office 365 subscription, Office Store, Azure apps, SharePoint apps, Line of Business apps and even custom tiles added by organization administrators.
Also, company added apps also get their own “NEW” section, and with badge notifications inform you of a new app. Additionally, “ALL” apps page is “added into the App Launcher as well giving quick access to applications catalog and search from anywhere within Office 365,” team said.
In addition, you can also resize and organize tiles. as you would do in the Windows 10 Start menu. To further enhance multitasking speed, “you can pin up to three applications to the right side of the navigation bar.”
The redesigned App Launcher now supports Office 365 themes, “simply select an Office 365 theme from Settings menu.” Once selected, you’ll color scheme reflected throughout the new experience. Additonally, you can select your company’s custom theme as well.
Finally, the company notes, in coming months, by “clicking the icon’s ellipsis menu, you’ll be able to access recent files from Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote Online.” “This will help you pick up from where you left off more efficiently,” office team said.
