Office 2019 Preview for Commercial Customers Ready to Use

A Commercial Preview of the upcoming perpetual licensed Office suite “Office 2019” is now available, Microsoft announced on Friday.

Today’s preview, includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access, Project, Visio and OneNote for Windows 10. In the coming months, previews of Office 2019 for Mac along with Exchange 2019, SharePoint 2019, Project Server 2019, and Skype for Business 2019, will also become available.

This preview of Office 2019 mainly contains features from Office 365 ProPlus that include improved inking across apps, such as roaming pencil case, pressure sensitivity, and tilt effects.

In addition Office 2019 also now delivers more powerful data analysis features in Excel, like new formulas, charts, and Power BI integration. While, PowerPoint also receving new sophisticated presentation features, like Morph and Zoom.

These features are already included in Office 365 ProPlus but are not available in Office 2016.

  • Work more naturally with new and improved inking features like the roaming pencil case, pressure sensitivity, and tilt effects
  • New chart types which include funnel charts and 2D maps, help identify insights, trends, and opportunities in the data
  • Make more dynamic and exciting presentations with PowerPoint Zoom

Office 2019 also now use Click-to-Run (C2R) technology to deploy and update Office across devices worldwide. Rather than using a MSI, C2R leverages Windows 10 download optimization tech as it download only required packages from the web. In addition C2R will also support an in-place upgrade so you can easily move to Office 2019 from older MSI-based products.

With Office 2019, Microsoft moving perpetual versions of Office to C2R, as some of its advantages, include predictable monthly security updates, up-to-date apps on installation, reduced network consumption through Windows 10 download optimization technology, and an easy upgrade path to Office 365 ProPlus.

Office 2019 will be a valuable upgrade for customers who cann’t move to cloud-based Office 365 ProPlus and wants to keep their apps and servers on-premises. And, it’ll only run on Windows 10. However, Office 365 will continue to be supported on Windows 7 and 8.1, stated Microsoft.
