Microsoft reached an important development milestone with the beginning of the “Office 15” Technical Preview Program. “Office 15 is the codename for the next generation of the Microsoft Office cloud services, servers, and mobile and PC clients and plans on delivering updates simultaneously.”
“With Office 15, for the first time ever, we will simultaneously update our cloud services, servers, and mobile and PC clients for Office, Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Project, and Visio,” PJ Hough, CVP of Development, Microsoft Office Division notes in a blog post.
Adding he said “Quite simply, Office 15 will help people work, collaborate, and communicate smarter and faster than ever before.”
While the Office 15 Technical Preview program is full, but Microsoft plans on releasing Office 15 to the public later this summer, in a beta flavor.
Some of the previous reports on Microsoft’s Office 15 suggested that it might be designed in line with the new Windows 8 platform, and that it could sport Metro UI enhancements. However, the ribbon interface would still be there, some say.
Also, Microsoft released “SharePoint 15 Technical Preview Managed Object Model Software Development Kit” to Download Center.
“SharePoint 15 Technical Preview Managed Object Model SDK, a compiled help (.chm) file contains reference topics focusing only on types and members that are called by other Microsoft applications. This reference does not document the full SharePoint 15 managed object model. That documentation will accompany a later release of SharePoint 15,” Microsoft stated.

Also, Microsoft’s Office Interoperability team made available of new Office 15 Technical Preview protocol documentation.
“The January 2012 release contains updates made to Microsoft Office Protocols documents since the June 2011 refresh. It includes updates and new documents related to the Office 15 Technical Preview,” reads the the description.
