Viewing shared folders in Google Drive just got a whole lot prettier–with Google rolling out improved visual layout of the folder’s contents view over the next week.
Now, users who are invited to open a shared folder will notice a much cleaner UI and can even click on an item to preview and flip between the content–while the old UI was geat for switching between multiple documents and editing them.
In addition, the new UI also lets users use the “Add to Drive” button on the top right to store it directly in your Drive for fast access across all devices.
To open any folder in the new interface–you just neet to replace https://drive.google.com/#folders/FOLDERID or https://docs.google.com/folder/d/FOLDERID/edit with https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=FOLDERID, (where FOLDERID is a long ID).

In other User Interface releated news, improvements to the look and feel of Google Places for Business, rolling out over the coming weeks to hundreds of millions of people around the world.
Google says it will send email notification to verified business once their accounts are upgraded to see them the new UI.
Here is what is new in this upgarde?
First up, the upgraded user interface for Google Place is now much simpler and more intuitive, making the process of updating business information quick and easy.
Additionally, a new widget now available –helps you understand at a glance how much more you need to do to complete your business profile.
With the new UI, any changes that make to your business listing, “now appear on Google Maps and other suite of Google services within 48 hours.”
As before, Google will still continue to moderate changes to ensure the highest quality local experience.
The new UI is now intergrated with othe Google products and lets you access your local Google+ page to take advantage of social features like sharing photos, videos, or posts.
In additon, businesses who use AdWords Express and Google Offers, can now manage their ads and promotions easily. “You can check results and make edits directly from your upgraded Places for Business dashboard,” informs Google.
In short, the update migrates business owners from Google Places to Google+ Local–will be making it much easier to use, faster response from edits, and integration with G+ and AdWords Express.
Update 04/05: Alongside, Google Drive, and Places, Google search for tablets has also received an update to the search interface making it look more like the desktop interface.
There’s now a new “search tools” button that replaces the wrench icon, “more” drop-down is now a regular menu and the icons for specialized search engines have been removed.
