Microsoft Research UK “Technology Heirlooms”: Time Capsules For Digital Age

Richard Banks has posted about “Timecard, Backup Box and Digital Slide Viewer” concepts presented at Microsoft Research’s TechFest 2010. “Of course we’ve excuses for not backing up which only makes the “Technology Heirlooms” project from Microsoft Research UK more relevant. The prototypes aims to help people backup and later reminisce memories from Twitter and Flickr respectively.”

“Timecard is a personal timeline object. It’s like a digital photo frame, except the content is structured by time, and is all about one person.” “Backup Box is a concept device that back up content of a Twitter feed.” “Digital Slide Viewer takes the idea even further by making the retrieval process as much of an experience in itself than the information it backed up. It’s like a photo album,” writes Richards.
