On March 22nd, 2011, Microsoft opened its Microsoft Cloud and Interoperability Center in Brussels.
The Cloud and Interoperability Center is an illustrative example of a range of initiatives from the Redmond company, made under the Microsoft Executive Briefing Center for European Innovation umbrella. Microsoft is working to catalyze innovation in Cloud computing across not only in the United States but also across the pound.
“Located at the heart of the European Institutions, the Center promotes cloud computing innovation in Europe by showcasing the latest technologies and solutions in areas such as education, health and e-government as well as advanced research projects,” the software giant stated.
The Center provides support for public sector organizations and SMEs as they explore and adopt cloud technology, and as they create their own innovative solutions. The Center emphasizes interoperability and collaboration to make the most of information technology.
Those interested in seeing the cloud-based solutions housed at the Center need to make their way to Avenue de Nerviens 85, 1040 Brussels.
According to Microsoft, there are as much as 15 cloud-based solutions on display from the company’s European partners.
“Through this center and our other ongoing efforts, we look forward to partnering even more closely with industry leaders, governments and consumer organizations to develop globally consistent privacy frameworks to help maximize the economic and social benefits of cloud computing for everyone,” Jean-Philippe Courtois, President, Microsoft International, revealed.
