Microsoft intend to ship Windows Phone 7 source codes to make third party apps more consistent

At TechEd Australia, Microsoft’s Peter Torr suggested that “Windows Phone team will ship more sample code after the final release of Windows Phone 7 SDK” to close the last few inches between first-party and third-party apps. Unlike panoramic and pivot controls, an example of extra code Microsoft will be publishing is the tilt effect.

Code samples like the tilt plus others including but not limited to the “swoosh” animation (ex. in mail app) will be making their way to MSDN to form official documentation for 3rd party developers to implement. It’s also likely that MS will be publishing complete source code for some of their out-of-box apps (ex. Weather, Stocks, Shopping List) so that 3rd parties can understand how apps are “intended” to be built.
