Microsoft Delivers Skype Call Recording

Microsoft delivers the promised Skype call recording feature to help capture, save and share special moments in a Skype call or record important meetings.

Call recording, a cloud-based feature is now rolling out to users of many, but not all of Skype variants. It will be available on the latest version of Skype on most platforms, except on Windows 10.

Windows 10 will receive Call recording with the latest version of Skype over the “coming weeks.” The Universal Windows Platform (UWP) version of Skype for Windows 10 will not be getting this feature anytime soon.

How Skype call recording works?

A call can be recorded any time during a Skype call on both the desktop and mobile devices.

On the desktop, simply click the PLUS (+) sign at the bottom of the screen then select Start recording. While, on the mobile, a tap on the + sign, and then a tap on the Start recording will begin to call recording.

As soon as the recording start, everyone in the call is notified that the call is being recorded. For video calls, Skype will record everyone’s video as well as any screens shared during the call.

After the call, the recording can be saved or it can then be posted on a chat. To save a Skype call recording, on desktop, go to the chat and click More options, then select “Save to Downloads” to save it to the downloads folder. Or, select “Save as” to save it in a selected folder.

To save a recording on mobile, tap and hold the recorded call in the chat. When the menu is displayed, tap Save. The recording will automatically save to the camera roll.

The recording will be saved as an MP4 file, and will remain available for the next 30 days.
