Microsoft 365 New Tools Helps to Create Impactful Content, Transition to Cloud

A number of new functionalities in Microsoft 365, which are designed to improve the look and feel of content as well as new tools and resources to help transition to the cloud has been released.

Highlights of the new capabilities made available as part of October include:

Microsoft has designed a number of new features to enhance the overall visual look & feel and impact of documents and presentations. The capabilities include:

Embedded 3D Animations

Users can now easily insert and play embedded 3D animated models to illustrate their Word and PowerPoint documents.

This capability will become available starting in November.

Convert Ink to Text and Shapes at Once

Microsoft now allows users to easily convert digital pen ink to text or shapes at the same time.

Users with a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 subscription with a touch and ink compatible device can start using this features beginning November.

Curated Slide Recommendations in PowerPoint

PowerPoint Designer now convert text to curated slide recommendations using artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP).

Regardless of whether handwritten or typed, recommendations based on words in a slide such as multiple design themes, intelligent SmartArt and icons are suggested.

Microsoft 365 and or Office 365 subscribers can start using this feature.

Edit Documents with Digital Pen

While in tablet mode, users can now make use of new gestures in Ink Editor using shorthand with a digital pen to edit documents.

These capabilities include add new lines, missing words, delete and highlight content.

A Microsoft 365 or Office 365 subscription with a touch-enabled device and a digital pen is required to use this feature.

Transform to Web

This feature lets convert Word documents into web pages using a variety of styles to publish on any device with just three clicks.

To transform a Word document, simply go to File -> Transform and select a style.

Additionally, users can also see on page analytics like who has viewed or read the content.

Beginning in November users of Word with an Office 365 subscription and or Word Online can start using this feature.

In addition, Microsoft is also introducing new functionalities to transition the files and applications to the cloud.

Here are the new tools:

SharePoint Migration Tool

Commercial customers of Microsoft 365 can move existing SharePoint, OneDrive, and File Share content using the intuitive tool to SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams.

Desktop App Assure

Now available through FastTrack to users encountering app compatibility issues during the deployment of Windows 10, Office 365 ProPlus, and feature updates.

Desktop App Assure for FastTrack is available now in North America. It will become available by February 1, 2019, worldwide.

Help & Support When Using Office.com

Users can now access the new pane in Office.com, which is designed to offer the latest support information and articles to troubleshoot common issues without leaving the app.

Commercial users will also be able to search their organization’s help desk information when enabled.

This new help and support experience in Office.com will launch in November. It will be rolling out across Office 365 web apps over the next six months.

Other Office updates:

  • Office 365 has earned HITRUST CSF Certification building capabilities to transform patient care and patient experiences.
  • Office 2019 servers including Exchange Server 2019, Skype for Business Server 2019, SharePoint Server 2019, and Project Server 2019 are now available.
  • SharePoint admin center updates, such as simplified controls, improved site management experience, allow managing SharePoint sites in Office 365.

Microsoft was also recognized as a 2018 Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for Access Management and Content Collaboration Platforms (CCP), as well as a Leader in the Content Services Platforms Magic Quadrant for 2018.
