Merry Holidays, Google Beefs up Mobile Shopping Results

Google kicks off holidays shopping with improvements to mobile shopping experience introduced on Tuesday, so shoppers can easily now, browse, research, compare, and get the items crossed off their holiday gift list.

The new redesigned mobile shppoing experience adds buying guides for more broad categories, that now, include “sewing machine” and “coffee grinder” searches and more product information for specific product searches.

Now clicking on “Quick View” button in a Google Shopping ad will preview details like a bigger image, product description, reviews and seller rating as well as information about if it’s on sale. Scroll down to see visually similar or related products underneath, or discover more products from same brands or retailers.

Google has also enhanced knowledge panel on Google.com, so you can quickly find product photos, videos, reviews, descriptions and more. Now, when a search for a specific product is made on Google.com, “information, like related items is displayed and allows you to compare reviews, prices and other specs, side by side.”

And, to narrow down your options further Google now give deeper insight into potential purchases by showing buying guides for broad categories, like sewing machines or coffee grinders.

And for tech gadgets searches, Google has added a new label “newer model available”, so searchers would know if they are browsing the most recent or last year’s product releases.

Of course, Google has taken care of its digital Assistant as well, you can now shop by voice by saying “Ok Google, where can I buy…”, or say “Ok Google, buy…”.

Lastly, the company has also released search trends around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. According to its data of related search queries some of the popular searches going into Black Friday, include:

  • apparel brands like Vans, Canada Goose and Nike Air Jordan Retro 11
  • celebrity endorsed products, like Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 10, Pharrell x adidas and Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty
  • gamers gifts, including Razer phones, Nintendo Switch, and Call of Duty WW2

Another, products that got redesigned today just in time for holiday season is the Google Flights search that now offer more ways to find cheaper flights, says Google in a tweet:
