McClatchy rolls out WebVisibles’ Online Marketing Services and Gannett launches GannettLocal to sell SEO to SMBs

Local newspaper publishers in the United States are getting in to SEO services; Two of the three big news publications have recently announced of selling marketing services to small/local businesses:

McClatchy 3rd-largest newspaper in US and WebVisible announced of rolling out of WebVisible online marketing platform to “every McClatchy U.S. market” i.e. — 30 daily newspapers in 29 U.S. markets — by the end of 2010:

The move gives McClatchy’s local advertisers the most efficient way to get found by customers no matter how they’re looking — in newspaper listings, newspaper web sites or search engines, or via mobile phones or navigation devices. (emphasis added)

Gannett on May 20, said of establishing a new business unit “GannettLocal,” to offer marketing advice to small-and-midsize-companies. “GannettLocal is a new business model focused on working with small and medium sized business to provide them a high-touch marketing consultation and a suite of multiplatform solutions (search engine marketing, email, digital display, website, and geo-targeted print/flyers) delivered by a team of dedicated experts over the phone,” said Brad Robertson.
