Rockstar Games certainly like to keep us all on our toes. There was us, sat here, hoping for news on GTA IV, and what do we get? Manhunt 2. Ho-hum… such is life I suppose. Rockstar reveal that Manhunt 2 will be created for the PS2, PSP and Wii consoles, under the charge of the new Rockstar London development studio.
Rockstar North will also oversee the project, while the unique Wii version (which is unlikely to sit comfortably with Ninty’s family-friendly image), will be grafted by Rockstar Toronto. A release this summer is promised, apparently.
“With Manhunt 2 we have tried to create a game that stays close to the original concept of chilling suspense and stealth, whilst pushing the game design and storytelling forward,” commented Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games. “We are also excited to have our newest development team, Rockstar London, working on the title alongside our two established UK studios, Rockstar North and Leeds.”
The original Manhunt clearly sold more than we had imagined, having certainly generated enough hype through its controversial serial-murdurer theme in order to thrive despite reviews which were something of a mixed bag. More Manhunt 2 as we get it.
