“Mango” brings an intelligent and simplified approach to communication, and Internet Applications
Microsoft announces today the new version for Windows Phone called Mango, which will bring over 500 new features which go beyond the limits of use of the smartphone experience, communication, applications and the Internet. The new version will be available free of charge for all Windows Phone devices and can be downloaded at the beginning this autumn. More details about update schedules for devices will be announced closer to launch. Also, Windows Phone will be available on the new devices, on the part of new manufacturing partners.
Andy Lees, Chairman of Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft Corp., said: “Seven months ago, I started this mission: to make smartphone smarter and easier to use by users. With Mango, Windows Phone make a stride forward in redefining the way users communicate, use the applications and browse on the internet, so with half the effort now to obtain double results.”
Communication: connecting and sharing information are simpler
Interaction with your smartphone can be complicated by a multitude of applications and disconnected accounts, people trying to keep up with all the ways that communicate – from phones, messages, emails, status update sites, tweet, check-ins up to tagging or posting photos. To help users deal with the complexity created, update the Mango organizes information around the person or group with which you interact and not around the application used.
•Threads. You can alternate between messages, chat Facebook and Windows Live Messenger, all in the same conversation
•Groups. Groups of contacts are converted into Live Custom Tiles to see the most recent status and quickly send a message, an email or an instant message to the entire group, directly from the Start screen
•Better integration with social networks. Twitter and LinkedIn are integrated into the contact cards, and Mango includes Facebook and supports check-ins; We also have available a new facial detection software that makes easy tagging your photos or posting them on the internet
•Linked Inbox. Multiple email accounts in one Inbox; conversations are organized so that you can view the most recent mail
•Hands-free messaging. Integrated support for speech-to-text and text-to-speech, which allows writing of messages or chat hands-free
An approach more intelligent applications
Mbr />Windows Phone will change the way users relate to applications. Today, their usefulness is measured taking into account what can be done with the application, but its promise stands in the way that it can be integrated directly in the center of the experience with the phone. In addition to the fact that you can receive notifications and updates of applications directly on the Start screen, Mango will add applications to the search results and in the Windows Phone Hubs. As a result, an application may be found useful where needed.
•App Connect. By connecting applications to the search results and their integration in the Windows Phone Hubs, including Music and Video and Pictures, applications are visible when and where needed.
•Improved Live Tiles. Updated information may be obtained without requiring applications to be opened. Live Tiles are now more dynamic and can store and more information.
•Multitasking. Applications can be quickly switched, at the same time, others may run in the background, while it keeps the duration and battery performance
Surfing the internet, beyond the browser
In addition to the inclusion of Internet Explorer, update the Mango will connect the power of the Internet to your phone’s unique capabilities, such as the identification of the location, the video camera and access to applications, to present a new way of browsing the internet, which is now more user-friendly and more relevant.
•Internet Explorer 9. The power of a browser for the PC, based on the HTML5 support, IE9 and support for hardware acceleration
•Local Recognition (Local Scout). The provision of local results and recommendations for restaurants nearby, shops and proposals for activities, in a user-friendly guide
•Bing on Windows Phone. More ways to search the internet, including Bing Vision, Music Search and Voice, so that decision-making is easier
•Quick Cards (Quick Cards). When searching for a product, a movie, an event or a place we have available a summary and relevant applications
