LinkedIn Mobile App Update for iPhone and Android Released, Plus HTML 5 Mobile Site Launched

LinkedIn released a new HTML 5 optimized page for any modern mobile browsers and updated iPhone and Android apps with 2-10X speed increases. This makes a huge difference when you’re on the way to a meeting and need to pull up the most up-to-date information as quickly as possible.

The new app is now focused around four key areas: Updates, Inbox, You, and Groups & More.

  • Updates: View updates from your network and top news from LinkedIn Today
  • Inbox: You can view your invitations and messages in one place
  • You: Access your profile, connections, share updates, and even more in the future
  • Groups & More: Browse and interact with your groups, as well as build your network through our People You May Know feature

The other big change implemented in the new apps is that the mobile app experience now starts with the Update stream, one of the most frequently used areas of the current mobile app.

With this release LinkdeIn also provide both iPhone & Android users with access to a million LinkedIn Groups and new discussions taking place everyday. You can easily access the list of groups you’re a member of, browse discussions, and exchange information and ideas by starting new discussions or commenting on existing ones.

Finally, the company rolling out its new mobile web experience for iPhone and Android devices. Starting today, you can try out a preview of the new mobile website by visiting touch.linkedin.com on your iPhone or Android device.

Interestingly, LinkedIn also announced their mobile platform is growing 400 percent year-over-year. “LinkedIn Mobile page views have grown more than 400% year-over-year, making it the fastest growing consumer service on LinkedIn. With our experience building apps that meet the needs of professionals on the go, we had an opportunity to rethink how to best meet our members’ needs and have completely redesigned our mobile experience to make it faster, simpler, and better,” said LinkedIn.
