A couple months ago MSDN released a new site for samples where product teams and the community can contribute code. Here’s a description of the ones up there so far:
- Visual Studio LightSwitch Vision Clinic Walkthrough & Sample — This sample demonstrates the end-to-end process of creating an application in Visual Studio LightSwitch and compliments the walkthrough in the documentation. You use many of the features of LightSwitch to create an application for a fictional vision clinic for scheduling appointments and creating invoices. This is a good place to get started learning LightSwitch.
- LightSwitch Course Manager End-to-End Application – Course Manager is a Visual Studio LightSwitch Beta 2 sample project. It is a complete line-of-business (LOB) application designed to demonstrate many out-of-box features in LightSwitch. Andy Kung has also started a series of blog posts detailing how he built it.
- Excel Importer for Visual Studio LightSwitch – Excel Importer is a Visual Studio LightSwitch Beta 2 Extension sample. The extension will add the ability to import data from Excel to LightSwitch applications. The importer can validate the data that is being imported and will even import data across relationships. You only need LightSwitch installed to use the Excel Importer. However this sample shows you how you can build your own extensions so to build the extension sample code, Visual Studio 2010 Professional, Service Pack 1, the Visual Studio SDK and LightSwitch are required.
- LightSwitch Active Directory Sample – This demo application is a Visual Studio LightSwitch Beta 2 sample project. It’s a prototype application designed to demonstrate how you can utilize Active Directory data in LightSwitch. This code was demonstrated as part of Mike’s Channel 9 interview.
