Instagram Bug Causing Sudden Lose of Followers Count Fixed Now!

A bug on the Instagram social platform caused sudden lose of a significant number of followers.

Instagram acknowledging the issue confirmed that some user accounts are losing a significant number of follower0s, including celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez who lost million of followers.

According to a report Jenner and Grande, among the most popular lost 3 million followers each on Instagram.

It’s been speculated that the weird bug might relate to the fake followers purge that Instagram initiated against spam.

The company confirmed the bug on Twitter stating, “We’re aware of an issue that is causing a change in account follower numbers for some people right now.”

In a subsequent tweet roughly 12 hours later, Instagram said “We understand this is frustrating, and our team is hard at work to get things back to normal.”

Adding, that the issue should be resolved by 12 p.m. ET Thursday.

Instagram’s fake account purges part of the company’s fight against spam accounts using third-party to rise their audience was launched in November last.

The company said it has created machine learning (ML) tools to identify accounts involved in inauthentic activity using third-party apps to boost their popularity.

And as part of this initiative, it will be removing fake likes, followers and comments from these accounts and an in-app message will notify them of the removal.

These accounts will further asked to change their password as it may most likely shared with third-party apps.

However, accounts that choose to continue using third-party apps to boost their popularity may see their Instagram experience impacted, says Instagram.
