Hynix Semiconductor today introduced its 1Gb GDDR5 graphics DRAM, with the component being fabricated on the company’s 66nm process. Mass production of GDDR5 is planned for the first half of 2008, the company stated.
Hynix’s GDDR5 operates at a 5Gbps bandwidth and processes up to 20GB of data per second with a 32-bit I/O, which makes it ideal in applications with high-definition video and cinematic and photo-realistic graphics content, according to Hynix.
In addition to its small form factor and power saving characteristics, Hynix’s GDDR5 features time delay adjustments, error correction and jitter control technology enabling more robust system designs, stated the company.
