For the holiday season, “teachers can request the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook–at a special, discounted price of $99 including hardware, management and support,” google announced stating that, “it now has more than 1,000 schools have adopted Chromebooks in classrooms.”
This offer is the joint effort of Google and DonorsChoose.org, an online charity that connects donors directly to public school classroom needs to help budget-strapped classrooms across the country.
This offer available until December 21, 2012, to take advantage of this, full-time public school teacher in the U.S., must visit DonorsChoose.org and follow the instructions.
“Your request will then be posted on DonorsChoose.org where anyone can make a donation to support your classroom. When you reach your funding goal, you’ll receive your Chromebooks from Lakeshore Learning, DonorsChoose.org’s exclusive fulfillment partner for this program,” google wrote.
In other news, Google’s European Education team introduced “Computer Science on Air” initiative. “CS on Aire making use of the broadcast feature in G+ Hangouts, it consist of a series of video discussions on topics related to teaching computer science, which you can join in live on the Google in Education G+ page or watch later on YouTube,” google blogged.
