HCL Technologies, India’s largest IT outsourcing companies is holding a grand opening for its new Collaborative Engineering Hub and delivery center in Redmond, part of a test to see if the company can increase its U.S. workforce.
The grand opening in Redmond will be at 4:30 Wednesday at HCL’s new center, located at 14980 NE 31st Street, Suite 300 in Redmond.
Gov. Chris Gregoire and executives from Microsoft and Boeing will be in attendance, including Rich Kaplan, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of customer and partner advocacy. Gregoire is also expected to make an announcement of state support for workforce training.
In the near future, the Redmond center’s focus will be engineering projects for Microsoft and Boeing. According to the company’s website, HCL entered into a multi-million contract with Boeing for software and hardware development and testing on the Boeing 787 program.
HCL is on a push to create more jobs in the U.S.According to The Wall Street Journal, HCL has focused on Seattle; Raleigh, N.C.; and Rochester, N.Y where it seeking to work with local universities to recruit and hire IT grads.
A spokeswoman for the company wouldn’t disclose how many employees the company is looking for, but said primarily engineers and research and development staffs will be recruited.
