A compilation based on a collection of social media data collected from various sources by social media firm Hasai reveals that Americans are the avid social media consumers.
And, while some of the information might be old news – 47 percent of American use at least one social media site, for example, up from 26 percent in 2008 – others are more interesting.
For example, 65 percent of all social media content relating to the British royal wedding derived from the United States.
And that more than 63 million active users spend an average of 15 minutes per day pretending to run a farm on Farmville. Over the course of a year, that’s 5,475 minutes, or the equivalent of two weeks at a full-time job by a single user.
The average Facebook user has 229 friends. According to Hasai, less than 10 percent are college friends, more than 20 percent are friends from high school.
