Gulf Oil Spill Recovery Map App Using Google Maps API and the Google Earth API Maps “oil spill cleanup efforts”

For a period of several months, 50,000 to 60,000 barrels of oil per day flowed from the site of the Deepwater Horizon well straight into the Gulf of Mexico. As many as 400 different species of animals are projected to be impacted by the environmental nightmare. Defenders of Wildlife decided to use their powerful mapping platform “Conservation Registry” to track the collective efforts of various groups into one comprehensive “Gulf Oil Spill Recovery map”. Cretaed using Google Maps and Earth API, allows any users, to report what they observe in their backyards, to upload stories, photos and video to common shared map. It also shows numerous steps that Obama Administration is taking to mitigate the near- and long-term impacts of the spill.
